In the USA, Indian passport renewals go through VFS Global's consular application centres (VFS Global: Indian consular application centres in the USA).
Indian passport photos follow the ICAO guidelines: colour, white background, face 80 to 85% of the frame, glasses off (passportindia.gov.in: Guidelines for ICAO compliant photographs). The Passport Seva upload is exactly 630×810 pixels, JPEG, under 250 KB (VFS Global: Passport Seva photo and signature upload instructions (Nov 2025)). VFS USA's adult re-issue checklist (May 2026) asks for two identical 35×45 mm photos with a white background, taken in the last six months (VFS Global USA: adult re-issue of passport checklist (May 2026)).
| Photo size | 35×45 mm (630×810 px) |

Tip: A US passport photo allows off-white and a smile; the Indian photo wants white and a neutral face, so take a new one.
Or make it at home. Picproved costs $7.99 (free while we launch) for one person's photo in every size you need, and it checks the size, background, head size and face rules before you save. The office still makes the final decision. Make your India Passport photo
