Questions

Is the New Zealand NZeTA photo checker free?
Yes. Checking is free, with no sign-up, and your photo is checked on your device. It is never uploaded.
What does the New Zealand NZeTA photo checker look at?
The file (format, pixel size, file size), then the face: head size and position, eyes open, expression, head tilt and turn, light, shadows, glare, blur, glasses, hair over the face, head covering and the background colour.
What if my photo fails?
Each failed check says why. Size, crop and background can be fixed in the editor; eyes, expression, light and blur need a new photo, which Picproved helps you take with live camera checks.
Does passing the check mean my photo will be accepted?
It means the photo meets the published rules Picproved checks. The office or portal makes the final decision, so no checker can promise acceptance.
