Baby or child passport: step by step
Photos that work with a baby who won't sit still. Open the guide in Picproved to tick off each step and go straight to the tool that does it.
Set up a plain background. Lay your baby on a plain white sheet, or cover a car seat with one. Use daylight from a window and avoid flash.
Use Baby mode. Baby mode takes a burst, keeps the frame with the most open eyes and relaxes the checks babies can't meet. Some countries relax their own rules for babies too: in the UK, babies under one don't need their eyes open.
Let someone else take it. Hold the phone above your baby and switch to the back camera for a sharper photo, or ask a helper to take it while you keep the baby calm.
Nothing else in the photo. No hands, toys or dummy in view. Background replacement can clean up the sheet around the head; the face itself must stay untouched.
Note the shorter expiry. Children's passports usually last 5 years or less. Add a reminder so the next one isn't a surprise.
