Indians in Germany: passport and ID photos

In Germany, Indian passport applications go to the Embassy in Berlin or the Consulate General in Frankfurt, Hamburg or Munich, by where you are registered, at the counter or by post (Embassy of India, Berlin: passport re-issue checklist). Berlin asks for 51×51 mm prints, not 35×45. You take the photos yourself. From 1 September 2025 Indian missions accept only ICAO photos: colour, white background, the face 80 to 85% of the frame, no glasses. (passportindia.gov.in: Guidelines for ICAO compliant photographs)

Tip: Since May 2025 German offices take the photo for German passports and ID cards themselves, so the Indian 51×51 mm print is the one photo you make at home.

Make it at home. Free while we launch. After that, one payment of €6.99 covers one person's photo in every size on this page. The Indian passport pack, with the prints and page copies, is €6.99.
