In New Zealand there is no VFS or BLS: Indian passport applications go on the Passport Seva portal and then by courier or in person to the High Commission in Wellington, or to the Consulate General in Auckland for Northland, Auckland and Waikato (High Commission of India, Wellington: passport services). Only the uploaded photo counts; no prints are sent. From 1 September 2025 Indian missions accept only ICAO photos: colour, white background, the face 80 to 85% of the frame, no glasses. Renew an Indian passport from New Zealand

  1. Fill in the form on the Passport Seva mission portal, choosing the mission New Zealand-Wellington, upload the photo and signature, and print it. (High Commission of India, Wellington: passport services)
  2. Pay the fee by online bank transfer or, at the counter, debit card. No cheques, credit cards or money orders; attach the proof. (High Commission of India, Wellington: passport services)
  3. Send the printed form, original passport, visa copy, Annexure E, the Personal Particulars Form and address proof by tracked courier with a prepaid return courier envelope, or hand them in from 9:30 to 12:30 on a working day. (High Commission of India, Wellington: passport services)
  4. Northland, Auckland and Waikato apply at the Consulate General in Auckland instead. (Consulate General of India, Auckland)

Tip: A New Zealand passport photo may be on light grey and is 900×1200 pixels or more. The Indian upload is exactly 630×810 on white, so keep the two files apart.
