SSC's website takes a live photo with your webcam or the mySSC app while you apply, so there is no photo file to upload. Don't photograph an old photo: SSC rejects it. The signature is still uploaded as a file.

Note on the sources: The CAPF and Hindi Translator notices say about 4×2 cm. Check your notice.

How to make the SSC CGL files, step by step

Take the live photo in the form itself: good light, a plain background, the camera at eye level, your face inside the box, no cap, mask or glasses. Never photograph an old photo: SSC rejects the form (SSC CGL 2026 notice, paras 9.4 to 9.6).

SSC's CGL 2026 notice says you don't need an existing photo at all: the form photographs you (SSC CGL 2026 notice, paras 9.4 to 9.6).

Sign on white paper in black ink, about 6 cm wide and 2 cm tall, then photograph or scan it. Use the signature button above to save it as a JPEG of 10 to 20 KB; blurred or tiny signatures are rejected (SSC CGL 2026 notice, paras 9.4 to 9.6).

If you verify with Aadhaar while registering, SSC won't reject the form over the photo or signature standard (SSC CGL 2026 notice, paras 9.4 to 9.6).

Each step was read on the official notice it links to on 4 November 2026.

Official notice: SSC CGL 2026 notice, para 9.6. Always follow the notice for your exam, as sizes can change between years. Rules last checked Oct 2026.

Your signature can also be cleaned to white and sized from a photo of the paper.
