How we check the photo rules: official sources, every week

How we check the rules

A wrong size or background gets a photo rejected, so every rule in Picproved comes from the office that issues the document, never from another photo website.

1. Every rule has an official source

Each document page links to the page its rules come from, such as GOV.UK, the US State Department, the OCI portal or VFS Global. 217 of the 220 documents we cover cite a government or official page. Where only a non-government page exists, the document page says "not a government page".

2. Checked every week

A rule-watch reads every cited page once a week and compares it with the last read. When a page changes, a person reads it and updates the rule before the next release. Each document page shows "Rules checked on" with the day of the last read that worked.

3. Unclear rules are marked

Some offices leave things out, such as the shape of a signature or what a child who can't sign should do. Then the page says the office doesn't settle it and tells you who to ask, rather than guessing.

4. What the photo check measures

On your phone, Picproved finds the face and measures the head height and position, the background colour and evenness, the eyes, light and shadows, glasses and head covering, and the pixels and file size the form asks for. Each failed check says why. The photo never leaves your device.

5. If we get it wrong

Tell us at support@picproved.com. If a photo you bought is rejected, we redo it free and refund you within 90 days, with no letter needed.
